Our fine chamomile tea is joined by fragrant lemongrass and vanilla to create a soothing and balanced blend. Makes an excellent bedtime tea! Naturally caffeine free.

Chamomile is an herb that comes from the daisy-like flowers of the Asteraceae plant family. It has been consumed for centuries as a natural remedy for several health conditions. To make chamomile tea, the flowers are dried and then infused into hot water.

Sometimes excessive stress and anxiety may cause sleeplessness. Chamomile tea not only reduces stress and anxiety, but it also helps treat insomnia. Just like peppermint tea, chamomile tea has great benefits in relaxing the muscles and reducing irritability.

Some feel that the term tisane or infusion is more correct than herbal tea or that the latter is even misleading, but most dictionaries record that the word tea is also used to refer to other plants beside the tea plant and to beverages made from these other plants. In any case, this chamomile tea is sure to be a favorite.

Chamomile Tea Latte

Yield: Makes 2 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk (Any milk of your choice.)
  • 2 tablespoons Chamomile Vanilla Bean Herbal Infusion
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 5 cloves, crushed
  • 1 cinnamon stick plus ground cinnamon

Instructions

In a small saucepan, heat milk on medium-low heat with chamomile, cinnamon stick, and cloves.

When little bubbles form along the sides of the pan, let it simmer for a couple of minutes before turning off the heat. With the heat turned off, steep for 5-10 minutes depending on how patient you are.

In a french press, use a strainer to separate the chamomile tea milk by filtering out the chamomile, cloves, and cinnamon stick.

Add vanilla extract to the milk of your choice.

Move the french press plunger 5-8 times to create froth.

Pour the chamomile tea latte into 2 mugs and add ground cinnamon on top.

Does Chamomile make you sleepy?

In fact, chamomile is commonly regarded as a mild tranquilizer or sleep inducer. Its calming effects may be attributed to an antioxidant called apigenin, which is found in abundance in chamomile tea. Apigenin binds to specific receptors in your brain that may decrease anxiety and initiate sleep

It is also not safe to use chamomile as a substitute for proven medical treatments. If someone is taking any medications, they should ask their doctor about potential interactions with chamomile tea.
